A voice AI tutor for any PDF, document, or link
taughtful.ai is a free-to-start voice AI tutor that teaches you any document out loud, the way a teacher would. Upload a PDF, Word file, presentation, ebook, or a photo of your notes, paste a link, or paste the text itself. taughtful.ai reads it, splits it into sections, and a voice tutor teaches it to you one section at a time while it generates the lesson's video in real time. You can interrupt at any moment by voice to ask why, ask it to slow down, or ask for an example, and the lesson adjusts to your question before it moves on.
Give taughtful.ai a PDF, a link, or your notes, and a voice tutor teaches it to you out loud, generating the lesson's video as it speaks and stopping the moment you ask why.
What can it teach from?
- PDFs, including scanned and handwritten ones (up to 40 pages are read by vision when there is no text layer)
- Word documents (.docx), presentations (.pptx), spreadsheets (.xlsx, .csv)
- Ebooks (.epub), Markdown and plain text files
- Links: any web article or page, or a direct link to a PDF
- Pasted text: copy anything and paste it straight in
- Photos of notes, whiteboards, textbook pages, or screenshots (up to 20 images)
- Several sources at once (files, links, and pasted text together) combined into one lesson
A lesson video, generated while it teaches
The tutor does not play a recording. As it speaks, taughtful.ai generates the video of the lesson live: diagrams, code, charts, and motion drawn in step with the voice, built from your document at that moment. When you interrupt, the video changes too, so the next thing you see is an answer to your question, not the next frame of a fixed clip.
How does a document lesson work?
- Upload a file, paste a link, or paste text.
- taughtful.ai finds the document's structure (headings, chapters, sections). If it has none, it proposes sections itself.
- The voice AI tutor teaches section by section, generating the lesson's video in real time as it explains.
- Speak whenever you are stuck. The tutor answers from your document, then continues from where you were.
How is this different from chatting with a PDF?
Chat-with-PDF tools answer the questions you type. taughtful.ai teaches instead of chatting: it walks the whole document in order, explains it out loud like a teacher, and checks in with you as it goes. You do not need to know what to ask first.
Who uses it?
Students who want an AI to explain their lecture notes and readings to them, people working through a textbook, manual, or research paper, and anyone who understands better by being taught out loud than by reading alone.
Why teaching this way works
- One-to-one tutoring is the most effective form of instruction ever measured: in Bloom's studies the average tutored student performed about two standard deviations above a conventionally taught class, better than 98 percent of those students. taughtful.ai puts that kind of tutor on any document you bring. (Bloom, "The 2 Sigma Problem", Educational Researcher, 1984)
- People learn more deeply from words and pictures together than from words alone, which is why the tutor generates the lesson's video while it explains instead of reading your document back as audio. (Mayer, Multimedia Learning, Cambridge University Press)
- Retrieving what you just learned makes it stick far better than rereading it, which is why the tutor checks in and asks you questions as it goes rather than only summarizing the document. (Roediger & Karpicke, "Test-Enhanced Learning", Psychological Science, 2006)
Frequently asked questions
Can it read a scanned or handwritten PDF?
Yes. Pages with no text layer are transcribed by vision, up to 40 pages per document.
Can I upload a photo of my notes?
Yes. Photos of notes, whiteboards, and book pages are read by vision, up to 20 images per document.
Can it teach from a link or pasted text?
Yes. Paste any web article link or a direct PDF link, or paste the text itself. Pages that build their content with JavaScript can't be read yet; paste their text instead.
Is the lesson video pre-made?
No. taughtful.ai generates it in real time as the tutor speaks, from your document, and it changes when you interrupt.
Can I combine several files into one lesson?
Yes. Upload files, links, and pasted text together and they are taught as one lesson, each source as its own part.
How long can a document be?
Long documents are split into sections and taught in parts. Files up to 100 MB are accepted.
What happens to my documents?
When you upload a document, its extracted content is stored in a private, per-user storage folder accessible only to you and Taughtful's backend. Saved content is kept until you delete it or close your account; unsaved ingested documents are auto-deleted after a short retention window. Taughtful does not sell personal data, and you can request deletion at any time.
Is it free?
Yes to start: 10 voice minutes a day and 25 a week, no card needed. Pro is $15 a month or $144 a year, and Max is $39 a month or $372 a year, so annual billing saves 20 percent.
